[E] Some Food

I haven't posted food photos recently - here is one with few photos. I made all of those besides the bottom right corner one - this one was the lazy Thanksgiving meal I ordered from local grocery store, and I only needed to pick it up, roast the turkey, and re-heat the side dishes. Basically this is kind of our "family tradition" :D Instead of spending tons of time cooking, we order yummy Thanksgiving meal from local store at the beginning of November. Last year, we bought smaller meals from two different stores to compare which one we like better.

[E] Tomatoes from Garden

My dad were staying with us for few months, and here are the tomatoes from his garden. We still get the tomatoes almost daily. It's been awesome to have fresh tomatoes coming out from our yard! Thanks, Dad! 

[E] Toaster Oven

I finally went to Walmart and got a mini oven (Fine...One USA Unit told me that this is called toaster oven). I like this sooooooooo much...I finally can bake a little bit stuff without waiting for pre-heating FOREVER. 

My favorite breakfast after I got this toaster oven is Belgian Dark Chocolate Toasts :D

We got the spread from my sister few months ago, and I now finally start using it. I put the spread on the toasts, and put them into toaster over for few minutes...nom nom nom nom nom...super yummy :D

[E|C] Tonight's Dinner

My boss was asking whether my husband likes what I cook - I was like...ugh...he has two choices, he either accepts the food or he can cook his own food...hahahahaha

ok...I was just joking (but not really lol)

One USA Unit and I both like to EAT :D and to his credit, he is willing to try many many different dishes. When we were dating, he's been trying my crazy Asian fusion dishes, and he seems enjoying most of the food. I am lucky to have a husband that's not super picky :)

Tonight's dinner -

Hubby and I hope to visit Japan next year for a week or two :)

[E|C] Hotpot at Home

中文在後頭喔！

We like eating hotpot in winter, and we used to go out to local Chinese restaurant(s) to have hotpot. However, the price has gone up so much that we don't think it's worthy to eat hotpot outside anymore (it'd cost like $40 for 2 people). We don't have meat slicer at home, but we found a local Asian market that sells thin hotpot meat at a reasonable price. For $40, we can get tons of fresh ingredients from Asian market (the above photo only shows half of the ingredients we bought)! It was so fun and easy to make tasty hotpot at home :)

Pork chops + Daikon soup + Daikon salad 

煎豬排＋蘿蔔湯＋蘿蔔絲沙拉

Unlike other hardworking housewives, I usually just throw things together...since I've cut the daikon (radish), I'd like to use it up if I can - this is the reason that there's daikon in the soup, and daikon in the salad lol I am glad that my hubby doesn't care about this :D

我煮飯就是把冰箱有的東西拿出來隨意組合，但既然蘿蔔都切了，免不了想把它一次用完，這也是知所以蘿蔔會出現在湯裡也出現在沙拉了!

Fried pork chop, some Asian Vegetables, and egg & onion over rice. I guess you can't see the egg & onion from the photo lol 

I like cooking in winter and only winter...it's just way too hot for me to do anything at home. Even playing violin/piano feels like a lot of work in summer. 

In general, I don't deep fried food because I do not like the smell at home...but once in a while, I feel like having some fried pork chops, and today is the day for that!!! I like my fried pork chops because I don't actually put thick batter on, and I make sure I removed excess oil before the food is served :)

I don't even know why I wanted to do this, but I'm for sure taking weird photo everyday lol

[Daily Food] - 07/18/2014

It was a long day at work, and I did not get to eat lunch.

星期五真是短暫的難熬 - 短暫是因為我很忙，忙到連午餐都沒吃。

These poor bear got eaten by me.

我只好把這些可憐的小熊吃了。

Thanks for them that I was able to survive through the day!

好險有他們我才沒餓死！

New Addiction

I was addicted to Som Tum (Thai papaya Salad) for a while, and recently, I have a new addiction - Daikon Salad (Japanese radish salad)...omg...this is super yummy!

Once in a while, I wish I lived in Japan :)

Dachshund is Not Invited

Coworkers were trying to schedule an event that all our family members can join us...

After months discussion, we finally had a BBQ on the 27th. One USA Unit and I took Laplace, the kitty boss, with us. When we got the travel bag out, the dachshund insisted to sit in there (ok...he's black and tan, mostly black, so you can't really see him in the photo, but he's there). We eventually needed to kind of dump him out from the bag, and put the cat in. 

Too bad that neither of our dogs are super friendly...we are not comfortable letting them run freely at the party, especially at the event with many kids.

Giraffe's house is very cool!!!!!! My hope is my company dramatically increase my salary, so that I can afford the similar house in downtown. 

About Laplace, it was sad that he didn't get to meet his potential girlfriend - Goose, Giraffe's kitty. I think he will have to go again, and hopefully he will be able to meet his future girlfriend and also make friend with K & J, Giraffe's kids :D

Simple Dinner - 07/20/2013

I enjoy cooking. I'd never really cook when I was in Taiwan, because there's always food anywhere and any time. I've started to cook more a year after I moved to United States - - I moved out of dorm and lived with a Malaysian girl and a Japanese girl. A fun fact, most of foreign student I know didn't know how to cook when we were back home, and we all magically start cooking after we moved to United States.

Art of Omelette

Once in a while, I'd like to make omelette as late night snack. On July 7th, I made Spinach Kale Tofu Omelette :) The fun thing of making an omelette is throwing it in the air to flip it :D :D :D it was a successful flip :D

七月七號的宵夜是蔬菜豆腐蛋。煎蛋的過程中，我最喜歡的就是翻面啦！
