Zoo Fun

We got the zoo membership! I got the membership for couple years before, but not these two years. Since the tickets are getting more and more pricy and we don't really have too many fun places to visit in town, we've decided to get the membership again. We know that we will enjoy the members only events in summer :)

It's Lego animals!!

By the way, we moved the cute frog pot to another place so it can get some sunshine :)

Yard Sale Fun

I was helping a yard sale set-up, and found something so cute that I decided to buy it right there, right then, although the yard sale was suppose to start on Saturday.

I bought 3 books and a frog pot :)

This book is for One USA Unit, because he loves his Kitty Boss very much and I think the cat on the cover looks just like our cat.

I always draw One USA Unit as a frog, so I feel like I need to bring this frog home.

The frog has a backpack - - - a pot that we can plant things. Super cute, how could I not bring this home?! Especially when all proceeds benefit the rescue group that we adopted our Basset Hound from.

How I use Calendar

So...I don't really use calendar & planner...and I actually think I should start using it for something. Since I don't have something to actually write on it, I've decided to draw something for hubby once in a while. One USA Unit seems to like the idea :)

The frog is One USA Unit, and the monkey is me.

I've been waiting for sunny day...and finally, here it comes! We went to a garden to walk around and enjoy the weather before the really hot summer actually arrives :P

Lunch Box for One USA Unit - 04/19/2013

As you can see, I don't blog about the lunch box at the same day...just because I'm lazy to upload the photos from phone to my computer. I guess I should start letting the phone auto backup my photos. Anyway, today the lunch box doesn't really fit into hubby's Atkins Diet lol I made dumplings...hubby likes dumplings, so......so......I box the dumplings as a part of hubby's lunch. Today's lunch box includes:
  • Green onion dumplings
  • Boil asparagus
  • Salad box has hard boil egg, lettuce, a little bit pickles, tuna salad
After preparing the lunch box, I cooked something for dinner...and I decided to box a small box of
  • Spicy pork and onion stir-fry
for the lunch because hubby really likes this dish :)

Lunch Box for One USA Unit - 04/18/2013

Today's lunch box only takes like 15 minutes to prepare, the main reason is I used the carnitas I got from Costco (see the following photo)
  • Carnitas stir-fry with asparagus and chili pepper (I got some frozen chili peppers from local Asian market, oh man, it's sooo spicy...)
  • Soy sauce bean curd
  • Stir-fry carrot & cucumbers

Lunch Box for One USA Unit - 04/17/2013

We always have similar ingredients in the fridge, and I' trying very hard to make the food taste different everyday so that One USA Unit wouldn't feel bored. I wish he could eat fruits because it's pretty easy to make salad different by adding different fruits lol I bought some salad dressing which are low/no sugar and low/no carbs...so for his salad, I usually just alter the dressing everyday. Today's lunch box:
  • Salad
  • Boil broccoli (add a little bit salt afterwards)
  • Hard boiled egg
  • Bacon and lettuce stir-fry
  • Pork and bean curd stir-fry

Lunch Box for One USA Unit - 04/16/2013

Today's (ok...not exactly today, it's more like "that day") lunch box theme is "As Green As Possible" lol Most of the time, I don't exactly plan things out, which includes I don't plan what to cook for dinner :D My theory of making the lunch box is "JUST FILL THE CONTAINER with the food I think One USA Unit would be able to handle it"...One USA Unit's theory of eating the lunch box is "Open and eat it," so I think what it looks doesn't really matter lol
Anyway, here comes the lunch box with all sort of green stuff in:
  • Baked pesto fish
  • Boil broccoli
  • Edamame
  • Cucumber (edible, but majorly serve as decorating purpose lol)
  • Salad

Our Pets

These are our pets:
  • Mr. Dachshund, about 9 years old
  • Boss Kat, about 5 years old
  • Silly Basset Hound, about 8 years old
We adopted them from different animal shelters; they are all funny and problematic in different ways lol  We are very happy that we have them in our life to teach us love and patience.

Lunch Box for One USA Unit - 04/11/2013

4/11/2013 Lunch Box for One USA Unit includes:
  • Bok choy (Chinese cabbage) stir-fry with tofu
  • Onion pork sitr-fry (hubby likes this a lot :D)
  • Boiled Asparagus
  • Soy sauce fried egg

So far, these things work well with hubby's diet. He has lost some weight and good thing is he's not gaining weight even if he occasionally eats some noodles or bread! Anyway, I still don't put rice in the bento box, instead, I sometimes include some lettuce in the bottom of the food :)

Super Simple Dinner - 04/13/2013

I was planning to go out to eat last night, but it was raining when hubby arrived home so I didn't feel like going out then. On top of that, hubby was going to play game with my sister's hubby soon...so I decided to prepare super simple dinner in 10 minutes.
  • Bok choy (Chinese cabbage) stir-fry with Bean curd?! (It's actually TOFU, if you ask me)
  • Vegetable noodles

What Leads Me to You

My friend Cathy shares this song on her facebook. I like the songs and the lyrics, especially for this part:

"I am a dust in the universe
Floating in between people
If you are the reason of my existence
I’d never want to leave

What leads me to you
What makes me have no doubt in myself
What makes me no longer afraid of losing
I don’t want to be invisible among people

If you are fated to leave
How can I learn not rely on you"

白安--是什麼讓我遇見這樣的你

我是宇宙間的塵埃
漂泊在這茫茫人海
偶然掉入誰的胸懷
多想從此不再離開

Lunch Box for One USA Unit - 04/12/2013

It's FRIDAY!!! Yay~

Too bad that One USA Unit still needs to work tomorrow. This is a super simple pork salad for him tomorrow. The funny things about this lunch box:
  1. The egg looks like Taiwan.
  2. The pork is SUPER SPICY lol (I think One USA Unit can handle it...hopefully)

Rabbit Chocolate

Some time last week, I found this Ferrero Rocher rabbit at Target. It's only $3.50!!!! I had never follow holidays stuff even thought I've been here for 10+ years. After sharing an office with Giraffe, I found out that she always go shopping right after holidays...and I start to know why she does that lol In general, Giraffe is a pretty good influence :D

I like Ferrero Rocher since I was little, so...definitely, this is such a great deal for me!!!! Thanks for the Easter holiday :D

Hotpot Night!

We like to eat hotpot at local restaurant once in a while. Today, I've decided to prepare hotpot at home. I happened to go to Asian market after work because I got a Charley horse in both legs right before I left work and I was just in too much pain to drive all the way back home, so I stopped by the store, slowly walked around the store, and picked up some hotpot ingredients. I was pretty happy to see some Taiwanese and Japanese ingredients that I like that were sold there.

Anyway, what's wrong with my leg muscles?! Ugh...definitely need a check-up.

Office Fun

My coworker, Giraffe, has kids. As a good mom, she Pinterests a lot to get ideas of activities. Following photos show the products of "Pom-pom balls making activity":

We also tried to use Kleenex to make smaller white pom-pom balls :D
(FYI: I am kind of short and that's the reason the second photo got cut off)

Waffle as Dinner

I went to work around 6 today, so I got out early. We decided to have waffles as dinner - - - conclusion: this is such a bad idea lol The food was GREAT, really, the food was very tasty, but for some unknown reason, we don't feel like waffles are dinner-type of food.

We got medium frites, waffle monster, vanilla waffle with strawberries, vanilla/strawberries/cream, and freak special with frites. The frites came with homemade mayos: we tried Zensation and Curry, both of those were tasty. (The medium frites was way too much!!!!)

Pianoporte (cover)

So...this is how I'm going to track my progress of ukulele practice. I should play the same song a year later and hopefully see the difference. Originally, I recorded this video for Dominator, a ukulele player who kindly shares tab with me. In order to receive additional help from him, I have to show him that some good faith effort has went into learning the song. I don't play well, but I'm happy that I am improving slowly :)

April 4th's lunch box has:

  • Left over lime shrimp from yesterday lol
  • Stir-fried asparagus with pork
  • Broccoli (I added some shichimi on it)
  • Hard boiled egg

Dream

I had a weird dream last night:
  • It's raining, and the rain can go into my desk. (Why the hell is my desk outside?!)
  • There's a fish tank in a drawer. (Who keeps the fish in a drawer?!)
  • There's a old computer case under the fish tank. (Man, that case is so strong that can hold the weight of fish tank, drawer, desk top...etc).
  • Hubby and I were on a strange highway, and there's tons of people walking on the highway (oops, I guess I forgot to draw that lol).

Practice Love

This is such a cute, sweet, and sad video. The story is creative, and I think some people would wish the program actually exist; the program allows memories to come to life. I like the ending so so much, it made me cry. If you have 10 minutes, please enjoy the video. It has English translation in the bottom, but you have to click on "full screen" from the lower right corner since the fonts are pretty small.

Short Movie (~10 minutes)

Asian Pear Tree is Blooming

In March, we planted some fruit trees in our front and back yard:

  • 1 Asian Pear
  • 1 Peach
  • 1 Pear
  • 1 Plum
  • 2 Cherry (each tree has 4 kind of cherries)
  • 2 Apple (1 Fuji apple, the other one I don't remember)
Most of the trees we got them from Costco. Hopefully in the next few years, we may have some fresh fruits!

Lunch Box for One USA Unit - 04/03/2013

One USA Unit is on diet, so I have to prepare food for him. It's not that he makes me cook for him...it's more like I love my hubby so I can't stand for watching him prepare his over simplify lunch. (Ok ok...I know...I also only prepare simple food anyway, but mine is still slightly more complicated than his lol)

In the photo---

  • Left: pork curry salad (since he can't eat rice, so I use lettuce instead)
  • Middle: lime shrimp, hard boil egg, three kind of cheese
  • Right: pan fried asparagus & vegetables

A Month Without You

Dear Torison, It's been a month without you. I think of you a lot, especially when I do things in the kitchen. No one helps me pick up ...
